What can I expect in a hearing test?
A diagnostic hearing test helps us determine the quietest sounds you can hear. Here's what you can expect during the appointment:
- Medical History and Background:
- We will start by asking you some medical questions to understand your health history.
- We will gather background details related to your hearing and any concerns you may have.
- Ear health Examination:
- We will check the overall health of your ears to identify any issues that might affect your hearing.
- The Hearing Test:
- The test involves listening to various sounds at different volumes and pitches.
- You will typically wear headphones and indicate when you hear a sound by pressing a button or raising your hand.
- Results and Next Steps:
- After the test, we will explain your hearing levels and provide you with an audiogram, which is a visual representation of your hearing ability.
- Based on the results, we will discuss any necessary referrals or treatments that may be needed.
By the end of the test, you will have a clear understanding of your hearing health and the next steps if any issues are detected.
